Religious Tours

You needn't miss out on a beach holiday if you wish to visit religious sites in Israel. With the whole country only about the size of Wales there are plenty of key biblical locations within day trip distance of Eilat.

The important holy sites of Jerusalem can be viewed on a day or an overnight trip. Nearer still is the Dead Sea, site of Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis, which is often combined on a day tour with Masada, where you can see the remains of Herod's mountaintop palace and fortress. Qumran, where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered, can be visited in the same area.

Parts of the huge Negev desert, which stretches from Eilat's doorstep, appear in the Bible as locations during the wanderings of the children of Israel. These include the Ramon Crater, now a popular tourist attraction. According to Genesis, Beersheba, considered the capital of the Negev, received it's name meaning 'seven wells' from Isaac.

If you'd like to spend longer touring religious sites but don't want to miss the chance to relax in Eilat, why not check out tour and stay holidays offered by UK tour operators?
